I'm still learning leak detection here and still discovering that I need to cover basics before I trust any input from pool techs. This weeks lesson for me was from a very well experienced pool man. He was sure a spa was leaking and I went with his lead. After failing to find any sort of water loss I refilled the spa and found that water was pouring out the heater with the pump on. Later on he called me and felt embarrassed to have overlooked the leak. I told him his reputation is still intact and he'll never hear of it from my end. He has plenty of room to discount a new heater for his customer to makeup my fee and still make a good profit. The customer was happy because no cool deck was going to be removed.
