pool pipe locator
i want to buy good pipe tracing unit for pool leak detection . any advice? and thanks

I am located in AZ where almost all pool pipes are pvc. I moved here from San Francisco where there are alot of pools with copper pipes. I think they
had to have a union plumber on those jobs but almost all of todays pools have pvc.
I use a Goldak locator on the copper bond wire which is almost always buried with the trunk lines running to the equipment pad. I also use the
transmitter on a string to locate suction lines.
For returns, I'll shove in a drain snake as far as I can and clamp the locator on to that to map out the pipe I need to find.

The transmitter I referred to is actually the sonde that comes with the Goldak unit.
