xlt filters, hydrophone

Any seasoned XLT30 owners want to give some tips on XLT30 filter usage? Birds, traffic, construction, weed eaters, leaf blowers, aircraft, and loud music seem to be the most distracting when I have the head phones on. With a notch reject, and four filter modes the XLT30 may have some common usage settings that help newbies. Also any tips on using the hydrophone would be helpful. Are there common filter setting when using the hydrophone? Can you hear 1/4" per day hydrostatic leaks? Any suggestions of what is and is not possible with the hydrophone is helpful. Plus if anyone knows how to filter out customer "Grandpa's" farts I'd love to know how.

I used the hydrophone with great success on a pool with an infloor cleaning system. It's an old Shasta pool with old style plaster collars and most of the heads were blown out when I got there. The customer had abandoned the infloor system years ago and was using a suction cleaner via the skimmer. I dropped the hydrophone in the collar holes and bingo one sounded like a faucet running. All the remaining collars holes were about 15 digits quieter. The leaking sound was at about a 5' depth. I didn't try to adjust any filter settings, it was pretty obvious.

Later that day I set the bigfoot mic next to my refrigerator and played with all the notch and filter settings without any success at canceling the the motor hum. To the XLT's credit, had a pool line been leaking under my fridge I'm pretty sure I would have heard it with the motor hum also.
