I've always used air generated from an air compressor or in some cases a scuba tank

Does anyone have any recommendations as far as the type of air compressor that would be suitable?
Id like to try it, but I think it(the compressor) would be very loud, right?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

compressor
Use a compressor with a tank, once tank is full shut off compressor and you will have silence as long as tank lasts

33 gallon craftsman
Its mounted in the truck and I have a 250 hose supply reel. With this setup the noise is generally far enough away not to bother me while listening
for leaks. I do also have a smaller 4 gallon compressor on board in case the pool is too far away from where I can locate the truck. But you will find
that the small compressors will run an awful lot when trying to locate some hard to pinpoint leaks, especially when they are down over 3 feet.

We use co2. You get more volume than nitro because it is liquid. About $24.
Tank tends to freeze up on bigger leaks.
