Need to plug a fire hydrant pipe in a pool (Pipe broken) pipe is 7 1/2" id, currently have an inflatable plug in it but i do not trust it as a forever solution, have found many 8" or 7.7 - 8" but not something that will fit in and expand to the 7.5"
trying to avoid pumping out a 35000 gal pool, help please

Lances' pool light isolator should work. If the pipe is leaking, after you place the dome over the pipe opening, the unequal pressure should keep it there till your repair is completed.

If I read that you want to abandon the pipe, you stuff towels in it and fill it with hydraulic cement that cures underwater.

current situation is stable, pipe is plugged with an inflatable plug, but it won't hold forever, customer wants in plugged not cemented over, (interesting idea with the light dome but it would not apply here as the 4 panel intake grate is larger than the light dome) still looking for a 7 1/2" plug
